The positioning mechanism of the arms of the tool with different degrees of opening comprises: a spacer mounted transversely to said arms and provided with a longitudinal collision hole in which a pin of the first arm of the tool is mounted, with the possibility of turning and displacement along the coliso hole.
Said separator has, on the first side, an alignment of recesses which define in relative operative position with a fixed tooth of the second arm, relative positions of the arms of the tool with different degrees of opening.
With these characteristics, the said positioning mechanism allows, by introducing the fixed tooth of the second arm into one or another recess of the said separator, that the two arms of the tool are arranged in different relative positions as regards their degree of opening, temporarily keeping the separator in a fixed position with respect to the second arm of the tool.
In any of the positions determined by the coupling of the fixed tooth of the second arm in the different recesses of the separator, the first arm can define a relative movement of rotation with respect to the second arm being determined the amplitude of said movement of rotation by the displacement of the pin of the first arm along the collision hole of the mentioned separator.


These characteristics allow that the ends of the arms of the tool can be arranged initially with a greater or lesser separation depending on the thickness of the coating pieces to be leveled and that the user can comfortably operate the tool and guarantee the correct positioning and leveling of the pieces of cover with a limited drive and in any case of a length equal to or less than that of the collision hole of the tool arm positioning separator.
According to the invention, the positioning mechanism additionally comprises a spring that acts with opposite ends against the first arm and against the separator, said spring tending to keep the separator in a coupling position of any one of the recesses with the fixed tooth of the second arm and keep the tool in an inoperative position, determined by the pin contact with that end of the collision hole furthest from the other arm of the tool.
